Holocaust Survivor Program

our goal is to provide holistic services in a patient-centered trauma-informed way

Met Council's Holocaust Survivor Program is a multi-faceted program that assists Holocaust survivors with services such as:

  • Emergency financial assistance
  • Kosher food package delivery to their home
  • Minor home repairs
  • Holistic case management
  • Short-term counseling
  • Social events

Social Events

It is our privilege to help these individuals who have endured so much. We are sensitive in creating a positive experience for them through socialization events which take people out of their homes for an entertaining day. Past events include:

  • A Broadway show
  • Trip to a museum
  • Kosher luncheon with entertainment of Jewish music
  • Photo gallery
  • Chanukah party

Our Impact

In the past year the Holocaust Survivor Program served over 3,000 Holocaust survivors. We had close to 2,000 Holocaust survivor attendees at our exciting socialization events with quality entertainment and delicious nutritious meals, all within a patient-centered trauma-informed framework. Survivors who attended these events reported having a great time and that they enjoyed themselves and especially meeting and getting to know new people.

Our patient-centered trauma-informed case management services provided at the JCCs, our main offices and in the clients’ homes have served over 1,700 clients. Clients were provided with needed services, and many received financial assistance and/or were referred to another agency that can assist with their financial crisis. Through our Fourth Week Initiative Kosher Food Home Delivery program we delivered 1,199 fresh food packages to the homes of 477 Holocaust survivors this year.
